What #Jadapose Is and What It Means For Your Child's Generation

I. Yahida-the alleged rapist took to Twitter and defended his actions and mocked Jada further
There was nothing new about a sixteen year old girl getting sexually assaulted. Unfortunately, she wasn't the first girl to have her assault turn into national news while photos of her exposed while drugged after a rape, was reviewed.

But then another tragedy occurred.

Her unfortunate circumstance was turned into a meme, which was retweeted and imitated at least 30,000 times. This case is a bit out of the ordinary because the alleged rapist has come forward in such an open way to explain "his side of things" justifying and even talking with other people about the incident, seriously implicating his guilt over and over again.

Jada has seriously shown her bravery by coming out and speaking up about this, even while the #jadapose hashtag is continuing to be posted. The alleged rapist is an adult while Jada is just a minor. It is statutory rape all day long in this country.

Jada, you should seriously be commended for your actions. While he was out trying to create himself a celebrity status for this, he actually condemned himself by all of his actions. His Twitter account no longer exists at this moment.
Jada-16 years old

What can we say about a culture that puts being "internet famous" above basic morals or principals. That people cared more about starting a trend than they did seeing a girl on the ground that was obviously incapacited and unable to give her consent to anything that happened to her (although legally she couldn't give her consent at the age of 16)

What did some of the members of our latest generation do? They refused to see a human being discarded her pain just as her rapist did. Discarded her as if she didn't mean a thing. It was selfish and downright disturbing. What type of society do we have when children can see a incapacitated young woman on the floor and do nothing but try to figure out how it was her fault she was there? And those that had no definitive answers, chose to just mock her instead. I don't even want to think of the karma coming their way.

Should we tell young girls to stay away from parties and social gatherings because of the threat of rape or should we educate young men on not being rapists? The answer is obviously the latter.

But for some reason the fear that we continue to cultivate in this society is what causes even women who have been sexually assaulted in the past to blame the victim.

"Look at what she was wearing.....what do you expect to happen when you're out late at night....well she was walking by herself......well she was acting flirtatious......she was a slut..........she took that other girls boyfriend.............she is always talking about sex........." and so on and so forth.

Fear is what makes some women turn into rape apologists because they figure that if they don't act that way then they won't be raped. But what they don't realize is that sexual assault/rape can happen anywhere...even if they are safely at home with family members or friends. It can happen at anytime with a man who sees an opportunity and goes for it. As I have been sexually assaulted by people who were thought of as friends and respected students in school. I was even sexually assaulted by a teacher on school property.

Do some women lie? Sure they do. But you are not the judge. Leave that up to the professionals whose job it is to determine fact from fiction. We need to take these crimes seriously! Especially in a country when we stick our noses up at the fact that other "barbaric and third world countries" are backwards and unjust. When in our OWN sophisticated and culturally/technologically advanced countries, most rapists will go free or will never have been brought to trial at all.

What does this say? We still have a long way to go in the age of iPads and Internet when rape becomes something to be mocked.

This is just a sample of what happened when #Jadapose went viral....
