"My Demons Won Today...I'm sorry."

MarShawn McCarrel age 23

What an amazing young man. He took his life Monday night. He was seen on the statehouse grounds in Ohio right before taking his life with a gun. He stated that he pissed on the state house before he left. He was a social activist that helped organize protests in Ohio. He also founded a youth mentorship program called "Pursuing Our Dreams" and another organization called "Feed the Streets" designated to help the homeless population in his state.

"I Still Have Nightmares In Paradise"

He's won awards for his activism, yet his family members and friends felt that his activism may have taken him to some pretty dark places. Racism can take you to a dark place in the underbelly of our society. Where it's so thick yet so many people deny its existence. It's like denying that we are breathing air or gravity keeps us from floating away. Racism is so prevalent in our society today that it's become normal. So normal that some people don't even see it. They excuse it away. It's a sad notion.

I wish he could have received the help that he needed. He is a light that was snuffed out of this existence. We needed more Black men like him fighting the good fight. Alas, he did keep it up as long as he could.

Rest In Peace. Thank you for making the world a better place while you were here.
