Bipolar Bitch

Not enough people take time to realize what some words really mean before they use them, particularly as insults.

"You're acting bipolar!" is an insult normally given to someone that is experiencing extreme mood swings.

Bipolar disorder affects almost six million Americans and does not discriminate between sex, race, or social economic backgrounds.

Bipolar disorder is a serious mental illness that is characterized by extreme changes in mood, from mania to depression. It can lead to risky behavior, damaged relationships and careers, and even suicidal tendencies if it's not treated.

Suffering from bipolar disorder increases your chances of having suicidal thoughts.

Using the term bipolar to describe someone that may be having mood swings is wrong and not funny. It doesn't do much to lessen the stigma that many people that suffer with bipolar disorder.

I think more people should come out and talk about what it is like to be bipolar. Being bipolar doesn't mean someone is crazy, nuts, or even dangerous. Ugh...I hate to even use those terms. Someone that has bipolar disorder needs the same support as other people with physical limitations and disabilities.

I recommend a book titled
